Synkia is an easy to use information management service for your mobile phone.

When you set up your phone to use Synkia you are telling the phone’s built in synchronization software to connect to our server to exchange information.

The first time you connect the server you need to transfer all information from the phone to the server. The next time you connect the server and the phone compare information and only the information that has changed is transferred. This would be new additions, modifications and deletions. If you buy a new phone and set it up to connect to Synkia the phone will be empty and the server full, so all entries from the server will be transferred to the phone.

Functionality you really need

With Synkia you can back up contacts, calendar appointments, tasks, notes and SMS by a click of a button. You will always have a fresh copy of the information available on our server. If your phone is lost, stolen or breaks down you can easily restore the information on the new phone.

If you have several phones you can use the service to synchronize information between them – all phones will have the same contacts, appointments, etc.

In addition you can log in at www.synkia.com to view, add and modify your data. The next time you synchronize the changes will be transferred to your phone.

Easy to get – easy to use

Synkia is easy to get. Just go to the sign up page, choose phone and send an sms to our short number. The phone configuration will be sent to your phone and you are ready to sync.

The information is transferred over the air; you don’t need any cables, software or anything.

Synkia works with all SyncML enabled phones

Synkia is transferring data between your phone and our server using the SyncML protocol. This protocol is developed by the Open Mobile Alliance, a global organization that facilitates standardization of products and services across manufacturers, operators and platforms. Standardization enables our server to work with all phones that have a SyncML client preinstalled from the factory. In addition the protocol is under constant development and new functionality is being added.

Synkia works with all SyncML enabled phones. This includes most models from Nokia and Sony Ericsson, newer phones from Motorola and Siemens, and some models from other manufacturers. Devices based on Windows Mobile and PalmOS, BlackBerry phones and iPhone do not have preinstalled SyncML protocol but you can still install it. In addition your phone needs to be able to send and receive data (the same connection you use to browse with wap or download a ringtone).
